Hurricane Beryl Disaster Relief Fund: Your Help is Needed!

The Caribbean has been hit hard by Hurricane Beryl, causing widespread devastation across multiple islands. SOCAL is urgently calling for support to aid those affected. Here’s a brief overview of the impact and how you can help:

Affected Countries

Barbados:

  • Damage: Severe damage to the south coast; over 200 fishing vessels destroyed.

  • Needs: Urgent restoration of the fishing industry and relief supplies.

Grenada:

  • Affected Areas: St. Patrick, St. David, and St. Andrew.

  • Damage: Significant housing and agricultural losses; Carriacou and Petit Martinique saw 70% and 97% building damage respectively.

  • Needs: Emergency relief items, water supplies, and shelter materials.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines:

  • Impact: Union Island, Canouan, and Mayreau suffered extreme devastation. An estimated that 90% of the housing stock is damaged in the most affected islands, with 100% of the people in need.

  • Damage: Critical infrastructure, schools, hospitals destroyed; severe water and electricity shortages.

  • Needs: Tarpaulins, roofing materials, basic supplies.

Jamaica:

  • Damage: Housing and infrastructure damage in Manchester and St. Elizabeth; blocked roadways, fallen trees, and landslides.

  • Needs: Support for infrastructure repairs and housing restoration.
