Decisions of the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council in Caribbean Cases

On 18 March 2024, the Society of Caribbean Lawyers (SOCAL) hosted an interesting panel event about significant cases in the Caribbean decided by the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council (JCPC).

The event was generously hosted by Blake Morgan LLP and featured special guest The Right Honourable Lord Briggs, Lead Justice of the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council. At the event, Lord Briggs and a group of experienced practitioners from Blake Morgan and 3 Hare Court Chambers, including SOCAL Steering Committee members Robert Strang, Louise di Mambro and Charlotte Pope-Williams, spoke about important cases.

The panel covered various topics, such as disagreements in the British Virgin Islands and the Vybz Kartel case from Jamaica! Lord Briggs did a great job of leading the discussions and handling tough questions.

Ending the evening on a high note, attendees had fun with a raffle, adding excitement to the informative panel.

We look forward to seeing you at the next event!
